Lane and ramp closures are planned on northbound I-465 in northeast Indianapolis this weekend as crews prepare to shift traffic into its final configuration between Fall Creek and I-69. The added capacity is expected allow the ramp from 56th Street to northbound I-465 to reopen.
Northbound I-465 is scheduled to be reduced to one lane between Fall Creek and I-69 from 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28 through 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 30. Crews will install pavement markings and signage to open the roadway.
Work will begin closest to the median Friday night and shift to the outer lanes Saturday evening. As work moves to the outside, the ramp from northbound I-465 to northbound I-69 will close from 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29 to 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 30. Drivers can use the signed detour to westbound I-465 and turn around at U.S. 421.
Delays are expected, and drivers should plan ahead and seek alternate routes when possible.
The ramp from 56th Street to northbound I-465 is expected to open next week. Additional lane and ramp closures are planned Monday night to prepare.
Drivers can expect the following restrictions on Monday, Aug. 31, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.:
- Exit ramp from northbound I-465 to 56th Street/Shadeland Avenue (Exit 40) closed
- Ramps from 56th Street to northbound Shadeland Avenue/I-465 closed
- Northbound Shadeland Avenue/56th Street collector ramp reduced to one lane, no access to 56th Street
