Traffic Switch: New pavement and bridges to open on I-69 South 

INDIANAPOLIS (Dec. 3, 2024) – Drivers need to prepare for significant ramp and lane closures this week and during the upcoming weekend. The restrictions are needed to move southbound I-69 traffic onto new bridges and pavement. The updates include opening the 82^nd Street ramps. The traffic shift is expected to be complete by Monday, December 9 before the morning commute. 

Once the traffic shift is complete, drivers will be on new pavement and new bridges on I-69 South and the 82^nd Street ramps will be open. When traveling on the 82^nd Street ramp to I-69 South, drivers will only have access to I-465 South. To get from I-69 South to Binford Boulevard South, drivers will need to be in the far-left lane of I-69 South before 96^th Street.

What to Expect:
Several restrictions this week are necessary for the upcoming weekend to complete the traffic switch.

This Week:
Overnight Tuesday, Dec. 3 & Wednesday, Dec. 4 (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.)

• I-69 South far right lane open

Tuesday Dec. 3

• NB Allisonville Rd. far left turn lane to I-465 WB ramp closed (8 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
• Binford Blvd. South from 75th to 71st St. left lane closed (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.)

Overnight Wednesday, Dec. 4 (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.)

• Binford Blvd. North from 71st St. to 82nd St. left lane closed
• I-69 North from 86th St. to 90th St. left lane closed

Overnight Thursday, Dec. 5 (9 p.m. through 6 a.m.)

• No access from Binford Blvd. to I-69 North 
• I-69 South left two lanes open
• Ramp from 96th Street to I-69 South closed
• Ramp from I-465 East to I-69 North closed
