INDIANAPOLIS (Dec. 12, 2024) – Drivers should stay alert through the weekend as crews will need several lane closures to reroute traffic on I-465. The new traffic pattern is expected to be in place by early Monday, December 16, before the morning commute.
To complete the shift, I-465 North will have two lanes open this weekend and the express lane will be permanently removed. Once the shift is complete, four lanes will be open on I-465 North, but the express lane will no longer be in use.
On I-465 South, crews will begin working on the existing lanes, which will cause a shift for drivers. Drivers coming from I-465 East to I-465 South will be shifted to the left side of the construction zone, while drivers coming from I-69 South to I-465 South will be moved to the right side onto new pavement.
Drivers traveling from I-465 East to I-465 South will not be able to access the Shadeland Avenue/56th Street ramp. These drivers will not be able to exit until Pendleton Pike. Drivers traveling southbound on I-69 to southbound I-465 will be directed onto new pavement as part of the traffic shift. The decision point for drivers who want to go to I-69 North or southbound Binford Boulevard from I-465 East will also be moving further West, near the 82nd Street overpass.
