As a reminder, lane and ramp closures are scheduled this weekend in northeast Indianapolis to shift traffic and open a new ramp to 82nd Street.
Drivers can expect the following restrictions:
Saturday, Aug. 22 at 9 p.m. to Sunday, Aug. 23 at 6 a.m.
- Ramp from northbound I-465 to northbound I-69 reduced to one lane
Saturday, Aug. 22 at 9 p.m. to Monday, Aug. 24 at 6 a.m.
- Ramp from eastbound I-465 to northbound I-69 closed
- Signed Detour: Eastbound I-465 to southbound I-465 and turn around at Pendleton Pike (U.S. 36).
- Ramp from northbound Binford Boulevard to northbound I-69
- Ramp from 82nd Street to northbound I-69 closed
Delays are expected. Drivers should plan ahead and seek alternate routes when possible.
What to Expect Next Week
The new ramp is expected to open around 6 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 24. It will provide direct access to 82nd Street for drivers traveling east on I-465 and north on Binford Boulevard.
Once open, the 82nd Street exit will temporarily close to drivers who enter northbound I-69 from northbound I-465.
The exit is expected to reopen in late 2026 after additional I-69 lanes and ramps are completed and more traffic shifts occur.
Opening the new ramp is one of the final steps needed to complete construction on the I-69/I-465 interchange.
Actual dates and anticipated work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances occur.
