Final bridge beams to be set on Clear Path 465

The final bridge beams for the Clear Path 465 project are scheduled to be delivered and set this week. The 10 concrete beams are for the 14^th and final new bridge in the project. Once the work is complete, 189 beams will have been set throughout the project corridor.

The nearly 50-foot beams are for the northbound I-69 bridge over 82^nd Street. 82^nd Street is scheduled to close overnight on Wednesday and Thursday so crews can safely set the bridge beams. After the beams are in place, overnight closures on 82^nd Street will continue into the weekend and early next week as crews continue overhead work.

Drivers can expect the following closures from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.:

Wednesday, April 15 and Thursday, April 16 

• 82^nd Street closed in both directions under I-69 

Friday, April 17, Saturday, April 18 and Monday, April 20 

• Eastbound 82^nd Street closed under I-69  

Tuesday, April 21 through Thursday, April 23 

• Westbound 82^nd Street closed under I-69 

Signage along 82^nd Street will remind drivers of these closures, and emergency access will be maintained. The schedule may be adjusted due to the weather or other unforeseen circumstances and is subject to change.

Setting the bridge beams marks a big milestone on the project. Five of the six new bridges on I-69 over 82^nd Street are complete and open to traffic. New ramps have been built for interstate traffic that are separate from local traffic.

Meanwhile, the final remaining eastbound I-465 bridge in the I-69/I-465 interchange is nearly complete. The last of three concrete pours for that bridge deck occurred in March:

Completion of mainline I-465 is expected this spring. Drivers can expect traffic shifts on I-465 after the new lanes and bridges are finished. The shifts will open I-465 to three lanes in each direction as crews finish noise barriers and other final touches on I-465 this year. When that work is finished, I-465 will open to four through lanes in each direction from the White River to Fall Creek. Auxiliary lanes between the interchanges will help traffic enter and exit the interstate.
