Clear Path Connection: Project update newsletter

Clear Path Progress

Clear Path construction is ramping up, and drivers need to prepare for more activity. That will include two weekends of lane and ramp closures later this month to prepare for a traffic switch that will allow crews more room to safely work in the area. The entrance for the express lane on I-465 North is moving further south. The entrance to the temporary express lane will move from Binford Boulevard to Fall Creek once this work is complete.

What to Expect:

March 17-March 20

Overnight Friday, Saturday and Sunday 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

  • I-465 eastbound to southbound will be reduced to one lane starting at Binford Boulevard
  • I-69 southbound ramp to I-465 southbound reduced to one lane

March 24-March 27

Overnight Friday, Saturday and Sunday 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

  • I-465 reduced to one lane Starting at Fall Creek
  • I-465 northbound ramp to I-69 northbound reduced to one lane
  • Pendleton Pike ramp to I-465 northbound closed
  • Entrance to northbound express lane moved from Binford Boulevard south to Fall Creek

As a reminder, express lane traffic can’t exit at I-69 or Allisonville Road, and large trucks are not allowed in the express lane.

Important Note: Anticipated schedules are dependent on many factors and are subject to change.

Coming Months

Drivers will see an increase in construction along the I-69 corridor in the coming months.

The Clear Path 465 project was divided into two contracts for construction with the second contract being awarded to a tri-venture of Rieth-Riley Construction, E&B Paving and Gradex earlier this year.

This work will focus on reconfiguring the interchange at I-465 and I-69. New ramps will provide direct movements from eastbound I-465 and northbound I-465 to northbound I-69.

Binford Boulevard will also be reconstructed to separate local traffic from traffic entering and exiting I-69 and I-465. Access to I-69 from Binford Boulevard will remain open. Drivers can expect to see significant activity on I-69 at the 82nd Street interchange.
