2022 has been a year of progress for Clear Path 465. Construction started this spring to improve I-465 and I-69 on the northeast side of Indianapolis.
Crews started adding capacity on I-465 from Fall Creek to the White River. Watch this short video to learn more about Clear Path 465.
71st Street and Multi-Use Trail
East 71st Street and its and multi-use trail closed in the early spring to allow construction crews to widen the bridge that will support more lanes on I-465. Bridge crews worked through the construction season removing noise barriers, constructing retaining walls, setting bridge beams and pouring concrete.
Construction crews installed a pedestrian safety system that will greatly reduce the time the multi-use trail is closed during Clear Path construction. Before installing the scaffolding system, long-term trail closures were anticipated during construction.
I-465
The major focus of this year’s construction was adding capacity to I-465. Clear Path crews were able to implement temporary traffic shifts, a new express lane and temporary ramps to make room for interchange construction in 2023. I-465
The 56th Street/Shadeland Avenue ramp to northbound I-465 is now expected to close in mid-January. The multi-year closure will be used to make room for construction and to help keep traffic flowing on I-465 during construction.
