71st Street and Multi-Use Trail

The first concrete pour for a wider bridge over I-465 occurred this week! Check out the short video of the progress happening over East 71st Street.

I-465

Crews have completed pavement repairs in multiple locations, providing a smoother drive for traffic in the work zone. The transitions were repaved between the I-465 bridge and pavement at the White River, just west of Allisonville Road. Weekend work also improved southbound I-69 access to Binford Boulevard and the temporary westbound I-465 ramp.

I-465

Crews are making progress in adding capacity to I-465 between I-69/Binford Boulevard and Fall Creek. Work in this area began midyear, and crews anticipate shifting traffic towards the new pavement over two weekends in late November or early December.

The traffic shift will extend the temporary express lane further south and change its entry point. The left lane of northbound I-465 will move behind concrete barriers starting near the Fall Creek bridge. Traffic in the express lane will be unable to exit at I-69 or Allisonville Road.

The I-465 traffic shift includes the third and final long-term ramp closure for 2022. The 56th Street and Shadeland Avenue on-ramp to northbound I-465 is expected to remain closed through 2024. This will minimize delays and keep traffic flowing through the I-465 work zone. Access to Shadeland Avenue will remain open.  All other ramps and through movements at this interchange will remain.
