I-465

Ongoing work to repave the I-465 shoulders is scheduled to close one eastbound lane between Keystone Avenue and I-69/Binford Boulevard this weekend, July 29-31. The work will temporarily close two eastbound I-465 ramps between 9 p.m. on Friday and the Monday morning commute:

  1. The Allisonville Road on-ramp to eastbound I-465
  2. The eastbound I-465 exit ramp to southbound Binford Boulevard

Allisonville Road

The long-term closure of the Allisonville on-ramp to eastbound I-465 is expected to begin on or after Friday, August 5 and continue through 2024. This is the second long-term ramp closure needed to help keep traffic flowing and allow crews space to safely and efficiently improve I-465. The northbound Binford Boulevard on-ramp to I-465 westbound closed earlier this month.

Expect I-465 traffic to shift in August between the White River and I-68/Binford Boulevard, starting with the eastbound lanes. Safely restriping the lanes will require weekend lane and ramp closures. I-465

The shoulder repaving and I-465 traffic shifts will allow crews room to rebuild and add lanes to I-465.

Work has already begun along I-465 between I-69/Binford Boulevard and Fall Creek. Crews successfully removed a noise barrier section that will be replaced later. Southbound traffic will begin to see the top of retaining walls emerging from the I-465 side slope in this area. The walls help support the expanded roadbed for I-465.

Allisonville Road

Bridge crews successfully resurfaced the Allisonville Road bridge over I-465 in late June, helping seal off the driving surface from water and road salt to prevent potholes and future bridge repairs. Additional sidewalk work was completed near the bridge to improve the crosswalks.
