Clear Path Connection: Project update newsletter

Clear Path Progress

Spring is off to a busy start along the Clear Path corridor with crews beginning work to reconfigure the interchange at I-465 and I-69. Eventually, new ramps will provide direct movements from eastbound I-465 and northbound I-465 to northbound I-69. The project will improve safety and traffic flow.

With activity picking up and more dynamic traffic patterns now part of Clear Path progress, we want to make it easy for you to find the traffic news and information you need for your drive. When you head to ClearPath465.com, you’ll find Traffic News to Know. At a glance, you’ll see upcoming closures and long-term closures needed for the project. Closures and Traffic Changes

Drivers should be prepared for lane and ramp closures the next couple of weeks to give crews more room to safely work in the area.

82nd Street Ramps

The ramp from I-69 North to 82nd Street and the ramp from 82nd Street to I-69 North will be closing on or after Monday, April 17. These are long-term closures to accommodate construction. The ramps are expected to be closed through late this year. A map on the project homepage will help drivers access the Community North campus. There’s also a link with additional information from the Community Health Network. Another map offers an alternate route to 82nd street.

Short-Term Ramp and Lane Closures

Short-term lane and ramp closures will be needed later this month as crews shift the entrance for the express lane on I-465 North further south. Two weekends of lane and ramp closures are needed to prepare for the shift that will give crews more room to safely work in the area. The entrance to the temporary express lane will move from Binford Boulevard to Fall Creek once the work is complete. Inclement weather in March postponed the work and traffic shift.

What to Expect

April 14-16

Overnight Friday, Saturday and Sunday 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

  • I-465 eastbound to southbound will be reduced to one lane starting at Binford Boulevard
  • I-69 southbound ramp to I-465 southbound reduced to one lane

April 21-23

In addition to the weekend closures, overnight work is expected the week of April 17 near the express lane on I-465 to move barrier wall.

Single lane closures are expected overnight Monday – Friday.  As a reminder, express lane traffic can’t exit at I-69 or Allisonville Road, and large trucks are not allowed in the express lane.

Please note anticipated schedules are dependent on many factors and are subject to change.

More News to Know

As a reminder, the closure of East 71st Street underneath the I-465 bridge is a long-term closure associated with the project. The closure is needed to lower the road and provide more clearance for local traffic underneath the improved I-465 bridge.

Some information shared early in the project may have caused confusion on how long the closure would be in place. The closure is needed through late 2024.
